Founded in 1985 by Raju Swamy, PROMAG Consultancy Services started as a broad-spectrum management consulting firm. Recognizing the unique complexities faced by family-owned businesses, we soon shifted our focus to family business consulting, helping enterprises navigate governance, succession planning, and professionalization challenges.

By the 1990s and 2000s, PROMAG expanded into startup and SME advisory, assisting businesses with strategic planning, growth advisory and performance improvement. Our tailored solutions enabled emerging businesses to establish strong foundations and achieve sustainable growth in competitive industries.

Today, PROMAG stands as a trusted advisor with a proven track record in governance, strategy and transformation. With clients across multiple sectors and geographies, we continue to provide strategic guidance, ensuring long-term success and professionalization for businesses worldwide.

Raju Swamy

With over 40 years of experience, Raju Swamy has been at the forefront of Family Business Consulting in India through PROMAG Consultancy Services, which he founded in 1985. Initially focused on strategic planning and operational management, he soon recognized the profound influence of family dynamics on business decision-making.

His deepening understanding of family-business interdependencies led to a specialized approach addressing Structure, Strategy, Governance, Trust, Ownership, Professionalization, Continuity, Succession, and Growth. This expertise has shaped Family Constitutions, ensuring sustainable family unity and business perpetuation. He firmly believes that growth fosters harmony, while stagnation leads to conflict and disintegration.

Raju’s diverse clientele spans chemicals, automotive, IT, jewelry, electrical engineering, agro industries,
and more. His insights are enriched by 18 years in the automobile components industry, where he progressed from Management Trainee to Country Head of Marketing after earning his MBA from IIM Calcutta’s first batch (1966). Additionally, his learning has been enhanced by direct exposure to Prof. John Ward, a global authority on Family Business Governance, through CII’s Annual Family Business Conventions (2000–2014).

Raju Swamy has also authored a book, “Family Business in India”, which has sold over 5,000 copies since its release in 2021, making it a valuable resource for business leaders and entrepreneurs.

Sudhir Swamy

With over 30 years of experience in strategy consulting, operations, and business advisory, Sudhir Swamy has helped startups, SMEs, and non-profits achieve sustainable success. His expertise spans business planning, performance improvement, and market analysis, guiding enterprises across automotive, education, healthcare, insurance, technology, and non-profits.
Sudhir’s career began in the early 1990s IT, working with companies specializing in simulation software, real-time systems, and enterprise solutions. He later transitioned into management consulting by joining Ernst & Young (EY), where he spent 17 years, rising to become a Director in the Advisory practice. At EY, he advised Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and industry associations, helping them navigate strategy, governance, and operations.

Beyond consulting, Sudhir is deeply involved in mentoring entrepreneurs. He is a mentor at NSRCEL IIM Bangalore, IIT Bombay (E-Cell), and IIT Kanpur (E-Cell), equipping startups with strategic direction and operational discipline.

An engineer by qualification, he holds a PMP (Project Management Professional) certification and is an alumnus of IIM Bangalore and IIM Lucknow. He is also an AITA (All India Tennis Association) Certified Tennis Coach and the founder of Hello Tennis, a grassroots initiative nurturing young tennis talent under 14 years.
